MistraSwitch System Solution

The MistraSwitch system solution is designed for fully automated selection for up to 10 HPLC or UHPLC columns (up to 15kpsi) or 6 UHPLC columns (up to 20000 psi) under temperature control using a Mistral column thermostat. The system consists of two MayLab MS 5000 valve drives, the MS 5000 interface, a robust mounting frame for the MS 5000 valve drives and a Mistral column thermostat.

Software drivers for chromatography data systems must be ordered separately.

MistraSwitch Interfacing Chromatography Data Systems

Fully automated temperature controlled column selection within a chromatography data system is the most efficient way for unattended and overnight operation when using different methods with different columns and temperature.

Software drivers are available for:

  • Agilent ChemStation 16 bit and 32 bit
  • Agilent EZChrom Elite V 3.1.4 and higher
  • Dionex Chromeleon V 6.4 and higher
  • AB Sciex Analyst V 1.4.1 and higher
  • Thermo Scientific ChomQuest V 4.1 and higher
  • Thermo Scientific Xcalibur V 1.4 and higher
  • Agilent EZChrom Elite V 3.1.4 and higher

The drivers named above are designed to report every error (e.g. faulty valve) through message boxes and will stop the actual running method immediately.

 

MistraSwitch and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)

Both MS 5000 valve drives are selecting the column at exactly the same time. The actual column position is constantly being reported to the MS 5000 Interface and to the driver software. The actual oven temperature is also constantly being reported to the software.

Each switching cycle is recorded in a log file, including action, time and date stamp due to GLP reasons for each day. By this means the systems activities will be manageable and reproducible for the operator.

 

MistraSwitch and Valve Configuration

For column selection two of the approved VICI Cheminert high- (up to 5000 psi) or ultra high (up to 20000 psi) pressure valves with 1/16” fittings and 0.25 mm or 0.4 mm port diameter are used in combination with two MayLab MS 5000 valve drives and the MS 5000 Interface in synchronous operation.

This unique column selection on the column in and output decreases carry over and increases the system´s performance.

The MistraSwitch system solution is available for selecting 4, 6, 8 or 10 HPLC columns for up to 5000psi.

For pressures up to 15000psi or 20000psi a 6 column selector is available.

The 10 column UHPLC selector can be operated up to 15.000psi

 

Included in Delivery

The MistraSwitch system solution comes as a ready to use system and consists of the following items:

  • Two MS 5000 valve drives with 4, 6, 8 or 10 port VICI valves
  • MS 5000 Interface (Column selection controller)
  • Mistral series 886 column thermostat
  • PEEK or Stainless Steel Fittings for VICI Cheminert valve (depending on valve type)
  • RS 232 cables for connecting MS 5000 interface and Mistral thermostat to PC
  • Cables for connecting the MS 5000 valve drives to MS 5000 interface
  • Instruction Manual
